Neurodevelopmental Therapy (NDT)
NDT provides the framework to enhance the neuroplasticity of the developing brain. NDT is the scaffolding for baby and children’s physiotherapy, facilitating alignment, core control and posture, and quality of movement in a child’s functional task – rolling, sitting, standing, walking, and most importantly play.
Partial weight bearing treadmill training and gait training (walking)
Walking on a treadmill and practicing walking with gait trainers, walkers and quad canes is a great way to develop walking skills.
Functional Electrical Stimulation
Neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) is used to stimulate nerves to improve sensory feedback and proprioception and to illicit a muscle contraction. This tool is used to facilitate a child’s movement whilst they are performing a functional task such as picking up pencils, standing and walking.
Vestibular rehabilitation
The balance system is an amazingly complex system. Vestibular rehabilitation includes working on a child’s vestibular ocular reflex, proprioception, and gaze stability.
